Journal # 1

CoSM Journal Number One

Since the last issue of CoSM Journal of Visionary Culture, The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM) opened in New York City. For us it's been an experience of creative community and artistic exploration you could say it's been a rush. A Sacred Geometry workshop, the Deities and Demons Masquerade Party, A Night of Mythic Revelry, The Ecstatic Aesthetic, and four full-moons.

In November, Eli, Marisa, Alex and Allyson went to visit the intentional community of Damanhur, near Turin, Italy, where exquisite Temples have been cooperatively built inside a mountain. With the generous sponsorship of the Grace Foundation, CoSM is publishing a beautiful picture book about Damanhur. Beginning an exchange with this Italian community, CoSM will also host a weekend of Damanhurian wisdom, brought to us by Esperides Ananas in mid April. The CoSM Community would like to make a pilgrimage to the Temples in the coming year. This issue of CoSM Journal features images and the essential story of Damanhur.

“Twelve Criterion of Sacred Architecture” is an offering by the brilliant architect and living guru of Sacred Geometry, Keith Critchlow. Keith has been consulting with CoSM about the design for the permanent home of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. Keith considers himself an integral architect, someone who has studied the formal proportions and harmonics of architecture from multiple wisdom traditions.

The Temples of David Best always burn on the Sunday before Labor Day. This occurs at the festival of Burning Man in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, where 30,000 people gather to celebrate creativity and community in one of the world’s harshest environments. CoSM Journal dedicates an article to the profound work of David Best.

The power of Rebecca Hoffberger’s imagination and the strength of her will manifested a mecca for visionary art. For an artist like Ralph Dorazio, the studio was a sacred space in which you carve your dreams. Simon Posford designs and constructs soundscapes that confer their own psychedelic splendor to the receiver's ears. In this issue, CoSM Journal covers the architects and space shapers that mirror the soul.

-Alex and Allyson send our deepest love and gratitude to you for your support of CoSM.
We look forward to seeing you in the Chapel.
